SHAR PEI EARS

 SHAR PEI EAR CLEANING

Not all shar pei have ear problems but they need to be cleaned on a regular bases to reduce wax buildup & help prevent ear infections.

Tip: When giving your shar pei a bath, don't get water in the ears. Step 1:
Flushing with ear cleanser will loosen any wax and allow deep seeded wax to float to the end of the ear canal.

Don't be shy with the cleanser. Fill the ear canal, hold your hand over the ear and rub. Doing this will help to force the cleanser deep into the ear, especially if you have a shar pei that can close the ear canal. Do this for a few seconds, take your hand off the ear and stand back!

Step 2:
Get a cotton ball or a cleaning pad and wipe up the wax that was just shaken out of your shar pei ear. If there is heavy wax buildup then repeat step 1. Don't try to remove all the ear wax. The ear wax is there for a reason and removing all of it can cause an even worst infection.

Yeast infections are common in some shar pei. Chronic ear infections can be a sign of thyroid problems or diet allergies or deficiencies.
